Enrich your life through our personal enrichment workshops!  Talented members of our community are sharing their knowledge with you through Jefferson Express. Whether you would like to broaden your knowledge of art in our Painting with Watercolors workshops, learn about Paddle Safety before you head out this summer, or how to become a Notary Public, we have something for you.

Handgun Safety & Pistol Permit TrainingMultiple Dates

Learn important information about permit requirements and your legal responsibilities in owning a handgun from a National Rifle Association Certified instructor! Topics to be covered are related to New York State Penal Law, General Safety Topics, and Firearms Proficiency using Jefferson’s Advanced Interactive Systems (AIS) Firearms Simulator. Jefferson Community College Policy prohibits all weapons on campus. Registration is required. Walk-ins are unacceptable. Please bring photo identification to training. Introduction to PhotoshopNovember 04, 2017

Photoshop is a powerful tool for photographers shooting with digital cameras. The options are unlimited, but also overwhelming. In this introductory course nature photographer Chris Murray will show you how to use the basic essential tools for editing and enhancing your photographs. Learn about Camera RAW, removing blemishes, cropping, making spot adjustments to your images, and much more. Chris will take you through his proven workflow for processing images and getting them ready for sale and publication. Chris’ work can be viewed at www.chrismurrayphotography.com

Jazz Rock EnsembleAugust 29, 2017 - December 19, 2017

The Jazz Rock Ensemble is the College's popular music instrumental ensemble. This course requires instrumentalists to rehearse and perform music literature from popular music, including such various genres as the blues and jazz to musical theater and rock music. Participants must supply their own musical instrument. There is no audition. People over the age of 60 please call the Advising Center to register 315-786-2271. JCC Orchestra & Wind EnsembleAugust 30, 2017 - December 13, 2017

All ages of musicians are welcome to join the JCC Orchestra and JCC Wind Ensemble. There is no audition for either music ensemble, although a selection process may be necessary to achieve balance in some sections. String players with any experience are especially welcome in the JCC Orchestra. The musical repertoire will include all genres--from classical to pop music. An orchestra/wind ensemble concert will be played to the public. People over the age of 60 please call the Advising Center to register 315-786-2271. All others contact Continuing Education.

Reiki Level 2 TrainingNovember 15, 2017 - November 16, 2017

Level 2 is often defined by a focus on practicing Reiki on others, as well as an expanded opening of the energy channels. Additionally students receive the "Reiki symbols" and Level 2 attunement. The Reiki symbols allow the practitioner to connect more deeply to the universal energy, as well as draw on the qualities that the symbols represent. This includes the ability to provide distance Reiki, or sending healing energy to individuals wherever they may be.

Discovering WatertownNovember 07, 2017 - November 09, 2017

This Workshop is designed to complement the Discovering Watertown Documentary presented by WPBS. The first evening will consist of a discussion of the video beginning with settlement and the early years, and continuing through the modern era. On the second evening students will meet at the Jefferson County Historical Society to examine and discuss primary sources and artifacts relevant to the series.
